One part to my journey was initiated in 1991 when I travelled from my home country of New Zealand, in order to commence a one year course: A Certificate in Christian Studies, at the Churches of Christ Theological College in Mulgrave, Melbourne. During the course of studying, a call to ministry developed. At the completion of College I left with a Bachelor of Theology, a Diploma of Ministry and a wife (not bad for four years work)! After Ordination (November ’94) there have been life and ministry experiences with some gracious people at the Boronia Church of Christ Vic 1995-1996, Bordertown Church of Christ SA 1997-1998 and the Mundulla Church of Christ SA 1997-2005. Also, I have worked as an Industrial Chaplain with ITIM (Inter-Church Trade and Industry Mission) for five years from September 1998 - December 2002. My clientele included Orlando Wines (two vineyard sites in the South East of South Australia) and Tatiara Seeds (A bulk seeding storage and exporting company). Additionally, another area of enjoyment was working as a School Chaplain for two days a week at the Lucindale Area School from May of 2000-Deecember 2005. All have been enriching areas of Ministry to be involved in.
My interests include playing squash, family outings (walking, bike riding), running, reading. I tried some home renovation ie painting and together Anita and I managed to paint our entire house over an eighteen month period, and some occasional story writing. I am grateful for the practical support we have experienced from people at Pilgrim eg manse negotiations and preparations and to have our beds set up upon arrival was very helpful. Also, we have enjoyed the food hamper which was part of our greeting. The people we have met have been friendly and encouraging. I look forward to "getting to know" people more and together working in Ministry. On the journey thus far I have experienced times of intense
sadness and intense joy as well. I have had the privilege to 'be' with others in
sacred public moments through, weddings, baptisms, child dedications and the
celebration of a life (funerals). Throughout each time the unknown and known
mystery of God has been present. My anticipation of being involved at Pilgrim is
to be able to answer some questions of life and faith and to wrestle with
questions to which I have no answer; such is the journey we're on. |
